Guy Fawkes Weekend

It’s that time of year where we celebrate the almost distraction of Parliament again, that point aside if you love fireworks then here are some events you maybe interested in.

 

 

Wembley Park

Enjoy the displays of Bonfire night and the celebrations for Diwali in this joint family event on Sunday 4th Nov. Food stalls & community activities will kick off proceedings from 4pm, 6pm will see a light parade fill the streets of Wembley Park and at 7 pm the fireworks display will begin.

The event is free, organizers have asked that you leave your cars at home and travel to Wembley via local transport.

 

 

Southwark Park

One of the only displays in the Capital to fall on the Nov 5th Southwark Park’s fireworks show will help displace those Monday blues. 

Synchronized to music the display  promises to be one of the best in the last 15 years.

Victoria Park

Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein will be the inspiration behind Victoria Park’s 2018 display, in celebration of the novel’s 200th anniversary the pyrotechnics, soundtrack and visual displays will all pay homage to the Science-Fiction Classic.

The event on Nov 4th will be free for all and starts from 5.30pm, however due to the closures of the Hammersmith & City Line and District Lines over the weekend please leave enough time to account for the travel delays.

Wimbeldon Park

Wimbeldon Park will be housing 2 displays on Monday 5th, the first starts at 6.30pm and the second from 8.15pm.

Along side both shows will be a funfair and food stalls to make sure everybody is entertained.

One for the Poddles

Even dogs like to dress up every once in a while and what better time then Halloween. Dogs and their owners are invited to the Halloween Dog Walk and Show on the 28th Oct, costumes are welcomed but not mandatory.

Registration begins at 11am and the walk starts at 12, the show commences at 1pm from The Spaniards Inn on the heath. Bring your wellies.

Queen on Carnaby Street

 

No not The Queen, Queen, as in the 80s British Band, where Lady Gaga got her name, Bohemian Rhapsody (one of my fav bands of all time), well on 21st Oct (today) at 7pm Brian May, Roger Taylor, Rami Malek and a host of others will be on Carnaby St for the official turning on of the Bohemian Rhapsody light installations to celebrate the release of the Queen movie on 24th Oct.

To attend you will need a wrist, see details below on how to get your hands on one:

– Please collect your wristband from 74 Broadwick Street (just Off Carnaby Street) on Sunday 21 October.
– Wristbands will be issued first come first served.
– Strictly only 1 wristband per person.
– Wristband collection point opens at 11am
– Please note there will be bag searches so please do not bring large bags.
– No glass or cans allowed on Carnaby Street. 
– Wristband holders need to be in the designated area by 6.45pm. Switch on begins at 7pm
– Please kindly note there will not be any musical performances at this event.

Yoga with Dinosaurs

 

Enjoy a bit of yoga, then why not pop over to a class in the National History Museum this summer.

For 3 dates only you’ll have the chance to workout in the presents of Million year old bones and fossils, have a relaxation session towards the end of the class and then have the chance to enjoy an exhibition or gallery before the museum opens to the public for the day.

The Great Willy Waddle

 

Cancer in any form is no joke and though the majority of us do our best to stay informed and give to Cancer Research Charities Penile Cancer still seems to sit in the background.

So how can we bring this issue back into the public eye? …With a Penis Fun Run, of course.

On the 26th September Orchid will be hosting a 2k charity run in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.

To participate you must register in advance HERE, minimum pledge amount is £100. All donations will go towards Orchid’s work in penile cancer research, education and support services.

 

On the day you’ll receive your inflatable penis costume upon entry (alternative costume colours available please email to enquire), you’ll then run, walk or waddle your way to the finish line all in the name of charity.

Never before has it been more acceptable to be a penis :0)

The Chuckle Brothers at the Hippodrome

 

I’m not going to beat around the bush with this one, The Chuckle Brothers are going to be at the Kingston Hippodrome for Freshers Week. It’s been awhile since Freshers Week applied to me, but I might buy a ticket just so I can meet the Chuckle brothers…it’s the Chuckle Brothers!!!!!!

 

 

“To me, To you”, who knew The Chuckles Brothers recording a track with Tinchy Stryder, I can’t handle this.

If you’re a real Fresher and in the Kingston Upon Thames area on the 22nd September then head over to the Hippodrome for an evening with THE CHUCKLE BROTHERS!

Arancini Brothers Risotto Balls

So two men named Dave walk into a kitchen, sounds like the beginning of a hilarious joke but it’s what happens everyday at Arancini Brothers. The two owners, big Dave and little Dave, while in Australia were trained by Sicilian chefs to create ‘delizioso’ risotto balls, or Arancini for short, you just learnt something…you’re welcome.

Rice cooked with onions, garlic, herbs and vegetable stock are then flavoured with a variety of cheeses, parsley and lemon (vegan options available on request), then fried to perfection.

Once prepared the risotto balls can be order in wraps, burgers, stew bowls or by themselves as a tasty snack 

With locations on Old Street, Kentish Town, Dalston and a food van that regular visits local food markets you have NO EXCUSE not to try them out.
