St Patrick’s Day Celebrations 2019

It’s that time of year where everything turns green and enjoying some Guinness is a must. Not sure what to do for St Patrick’s Day, lets see if we can help.

The Parade is always a good family friendly event, grab a scarf, the kids and an umbrella (just encase) and go enjoy the celebrations.

  • The Black Lion Pub – Kilburn

Formally known as Ireland’s 33rd County Kilburn is rich with Irish culture, as such it knows how to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. The Black Lion Pub is no exception and will be turning the jollifications up to 11 with live Irish music, fun and merriment.

You’re feeling like doing something a little different this St Patrick’s Day, how about watching a play. Playwright Maria McAteer Premiers her new play ‘The Guinness Girl’ at the London Irish Centre, focusing on a young black girl being raised by an Irish Mother in 1970’s Newcastle Upon Tyne, dancing to distract herself from the realities of the time.

  • Shamrock Sessions – Box Park Wembley

The new Boxpark location situated in the shadow of Wembley Stadium is getting in on the act this year, enjoy Live music & Comedy shows on 2 stages, family activities including face painting & craft workshops plus having 20 restaurants to chose from. All you’ll need is a smile and a joyful bounce in your step to enter.

  • Brixton Jamm – Brixton

Day parties, love them, you can dance till your heart’s content and still get is a good 6/8 hours sleep before work (if it’s a Sunday party at least) so lets do that for St Patrick’s Day. Brixton Jamm are throwing an Irish shindig to celebrate the day with 2 free Guinness vouchers with every event ticket, live music sets, a fully stocked bar and more.

Don’t swing your axe around like that

Had a hard day at work?

Need to let off some steam?

Want to throw an axe at something but don’t want to go down for distruction of public property or murder?

Well then me thinks you need to spend a few hours at Whistle Punks, an axe throwing party for all.

Yoga with Dinosaurs

Enjoy a bit of yoga, then why not pop over to a class in the National History Museum this summer.

For 3 dates only you’ll have the chance to workout in the presents of Million year old bones and fossils, have a relaxation session towards the end of the class and then have the chance to enjoy an exhibition or gallery before the museum opens to the public for the day.

The Chuckle Brothers at the Hippodrome

I’m not going to beat around the bush with this one, The Chuckle Brothers are going to be at the Kingston Hippodrome for Freshers Week. It’s been awhile since Freshers Week applied to me, but I might buy a ticket just so I can meet the Chuckle brothers…it’s the Chuckle Brothers!!!!!!

 

 

“To me, To you”, who knew The Chuckles Brothers recording a track with Tinchy Stryder, I can’t handle this.

If you’re a real Fresher and in the Kingston Upon Thames area on the 22nd September then head over to the Hippodrome for an evening with THE CHUCKLE BROTHERS!

I can’t say it enough. I’m so pleased they’re still working the circuit, good on you fellas :0)

Skiing and fitness go hand-in-hand, needless to say if you don’t have a reasonable level of fitness then skiing is going to be difficult, trust me I learnt that the hard way.

 

 

Chel-Ski in Fulham have introduced a new exercise class that teams Core & Strength Exercises with practical indoor slope experience, so not only are you getting some slope time in you’re also throwing some additional cardio in there for good measure.

Barnes Film Festive 2017

Aspiring young film makers charge your cameras, finalize your scripts and get to filming because the Barnes Film Festive wants to show your movies to the world.

From September 29th – October 1st Barnes will be hosting their second annual festival showcasing the talents of movie makers under the age of 25 from across the Country. The submission deadline for the festival was initially set for September 1st but has been extended to the 15th due to popular demand.

 

A number of workshops, screenings & Q&A sessions along with an Opening Ceremony Gala and Competition Awards Ceremony will be on during the event. click here for the full schedule. 

“Competition will be judged by leading film industry professionals, and will be screened during the Festival. Winners will be announced, and prizes awarded, during the Festival”

 

So if movies are the name of your game then head over to Barnes for tips on how to get into the Industry.

Indie Saatchi

For all lovers of indie games, get your backsides over to the Saatchi gallery on Thursday 16th Feb for the finally of the Google Play Indie Games Contest.

From 3pm the 20 finalists will showcase their games for public voting, the event continue with the top 10 with the most votes will then be announced, those 10 pitching their games and then the awards ceremony.

Thankfully there are real poets and authors who are willing to share their talent with the world (and silence my rubbish), if you’d like to see a few of those talented individuals read their work live then get your backside over to Pop Brixton.

On Wednesday 13th July Max Porter, Colin Grant and Johny Pitts (plus a number of other highly acclaimed acts) will be performing their work to a crowd of spoken word/music lovers, why don’t you join them it’s not a bad way to see out Hump Day.
