London Improv Theatre

I cannot act, there isn’t an inch of me that should be on stage or in front of a camera (unlike a friend of mine who is A brilliant actor, I hate her!), the thought of improv literally scares me into a sweaty panic attack, but there’re those crazy bastards who thrive on that type of adrenaline, step forward the London Improv Theatre.

Established in 2016 by Jake Lyons, the theatre plays host to Improv performances such comedy, sketches, music and even magic, oh how I love me a bit of magic.

A number of performances are on over September including an acoustic showcase (showcase performances are on the first Saturday of each month) , ‘Scared Scriptless’ where the participates improvise scenes based on audience suggestions and ‘The Magicians Showcase’ which I may well attend myself (love me a bit of magic).

If you’re after an evening of impromptu theatre, or in the mood to joy in yourself, pop on over to Swiss Cottage, it won’t disappoint.

The Time:  Varies

The Place:   London Improv Theatre, 104-A Finchley Road, Londnon, NW3 5JJ

Tickets:  Prices vary but generally start from £5/6 in advance.

Everyone deserves a Second Shot

1459579428-Second Shot Coffee - London-Bethnal Green Road-Business

Coffee, black gold or the bean that stops me from committing GBH every morning is now doing more than merely waking up the masses, it’s combating homelessness in the capital too.

The Second Shot Cafe in Bethnal Green has combined London’s coffee culture with the fight to eradicated homelessness by hiring former rough sleepers, providing training & one-to-one support, food drives, community support activities, a pay-it-forward scheme where customers can prepay for items that can be claimed later by a person in need (loving that idea!), as well as a number of other initiatives that aim to help people reintegrate back into full time employment and ultimately a stable live style.

Sweat is just fat spitting as it swears at you

1454946474845105067

The Yuletide festivities have come & gone and you’re fulfilling your New Years resolution of going to the gym, but you’re lagging, you feel your resolve starting to waiver, the enthusiasm you felt on the 4th Jan seems to have buggered off by the 14th, what to do???

You could stick with it, push through the ‘wall’ and battle on. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact ‘Big Up’ to you for persevering.

If you’re REALLY struggling you could consider joining an independent gym / Personal Trainer who might offer a personalised approach to training and keep you interested in the sweaty world of fitness.  If this sounds more like it then take a goosey gander at the suggestions below.

Road to Fitness UK

A jack of all trades and master of most Road to Fitness UK offers Personal Training, Martial Arts Tuition, First Aid Courses, Sports Massage and I think they also do stand up comedy…but only if you ask really nicely.  Based in Loughton (but they travel throughout London), the company has been going for 6+ years so can aid in your fitness goals however big or small.

Watching movies with celebrities

6A9484A9-EA40-C576-A63AB01A890F7B63_tharasofian-blogspot-com

Everybody loves going to the cinema, fresh overpriced popcorn, huge screen, surround sound and sticky floors, all key components to the cinematic experiences.

How can watching movies get any better right? What if you could watch them with the stars…wax stars…wax celebrities under the stars…former stars, sufficiently confused?

For 2 nights only you can watch films at Madame Tussaud’s cinema dome, (formally the London Planetarium) after having an access all areas A lister party, where you can take many-a-selfie with your favourite celebs.

Chose between Julia Roberts in her very high, rather shiny boots, croissants with Audrey Hepburn or high flying antics with Mr Cruise, either way it’s bound to be bloody amazing in a 4-D cinema.

Unique cinematic experience revealed!

StreetFest 2014, Fish Island East London

StreetFest Scene from 2012

I love April and May for their many Bank Holidays, days for rest and recuperation or partying madness. If the latter is more your thing then may I recommend StreetfFest.

A day of live music, street dance, graffiti art, eating, sport and even a beach cocktail bar (I know where I’ll be spending the majority of my day) fun and frolics are bound to be had. What’s that I hear you say, you have kids and there’s no way you’ll find a babysitter in time, no problem children are welcome too.

Starting at 1pm till 11pm you can drive to the venue or, as I’ve just found out and am extremely excited by, the event organizers have arranged a shuttle bus service to & from Fish Island from Stratford Station, starting from 12.30pm for £2 each, that has to be better then paying £50 an hour for parking…I may have exaggerated just a little.

You can also shop and get a make over, so if you were thinking street dance and cocktails are for you think again.

Oh one more thing Goldie and Ms Dynamite are headlining, I don’t know about you but I love Goldie, if for no other reason than the guy is fun as hell.
