Woolwich Carnival

 

You’ve been to Notting Hill and Hackney Carnivals but just can’t seem to get the rhythm out of your system, so why not see what Woolwich Carnival has to offer.

In it’s 5th year the event will begin from 12pm – 7pm but the parade starts at 1.30pm in Royal Arsenal, ending in General Gordon Sq where the main stage has been set up, featuring a number of live acts and sound systems.

 

The parade will see local schools and communities get involved, and at the end of the day a King and Queen of the Carnival will be choose, so don’t forget to vote.

Lycra 80s Aerobics Party

Everybody loves the 80s, big hair, big clothes, big mobiles, and LYCRA.

If you hate working out but feel like you need to get some exercise in, and just happen some Lycra in your cupboard, then why not head over to the 80s Lycra Party this Sunday. It’s a fiver, there’s no work on Monday plus there’re DJs so no excuses!

Colourscape

“Colourscape is a large labyrinth of colour and light. The public put on coloured capes and enter a new world to explore the potentials of light, colour and space. Within the maze, musicians and dancers may be found anywhere.”

The website describes this event better than we could, but be aware this is a ‘no shoes’ event so if your feet are a bit pongy it maybe time for a pedicular…no judgments though.

May The Fourth Be With You

Sky Dinner

Exactly what it says on the tin, it’s dinner, served in the sky or on a dinner table raised into the sky at the least.

A 22-chair seated table is lifted 100ft (approx 30mts) into the London air for either a breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Cocktail experience with an epic view. From May to July you’ll be able to book from 1-16 seats between 8am – 8.30pm for the affair of your choosing.

…just make sure you use the bathroom before you go up!

The Lost Lagoon at Shepherd’s Bush

Cinema by the Pool

 

Pools are great but do you know what would make them better, a movie. Imagine laying on a lounger with your drink of choice, relaxing, and then a movie starts adding to your chilled out-ness, great stuff.

This sound good to you? Then you need to head to the Sheraton Skyline Hotel in Hayes. 

Once a month from Jan 2019 you can watch a classic movie, with a complimentary drink and popcorn, while sitting by an indoor pool (nobody wants to by an outdoor pool in the cold) enjoying the scenery. That may help to drive away the winter blues.

Guy Fawkes Weekend

It’s that time of year where we celebrate the almost distraction of Parliament again, that point aside if you love fireworks then here are some events you maybe interested in.

 

 

Wembley Park

Enjoy the displays of Bonfire night and the celebrations for Diwali in this joint family event on Sunday 4th Nov. Food stalls & community activities will kick off proceedings from 4pm, 6pm will see a light parade fill the streets of Wembley Park and at 7 pm the fireworks display will begin.

The event is free, organizers have asked that you leave your cars at home and travel to Wembley via local transport.

 

 

Southwark Park

One of the only displays in the Capital to fall on the Nov 5th Southwark Park’s fireworks show will help displace those Monday blues. 

Synchronized to music the display  promises to be one of the best in the last 15 years.

Victoria Park

Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein will be the inspiration behind Victoria Park’s 2018 display, in celebration of the novel’s 200th anniversary the pyrotechnics, soundtrack and visual displays will all pay homage to the Science-Fiction Classic.

The event on Nov 4th will be free for all and starts from 5.30pm, however due to the closures of the Hammersmith & City Line and District Lines over the weekend please leave enough time to account for the travel delays.

Wimbeldon Park

Wimbeldon Park will be housing 2 displays on Monday 5th, the first starts at 6.30pm and the second from 8.15pm.

One for the Poddles

Even dogs like to dress up every once in a while and what better time then Halloween. Dogs and their owners are invited to the Halloween Dog Walk and Show on the 28th Oct, costumes are welcomed but not mandatory.

Registration begins at 11am and the walk starts at 12, the show commences at 1pm from The Spaniards Inn on the heath. Bring your wellies.
