Union Market is a new and unique food retail proposition. Their concept is resolutely British combining the theatre and authenticity of popular farmers’ markets with the convenience and reliability of supermarkets.

Union Market’s proposition is about traceable, natural, regional, high quality, best practice British food. We want to deconstruct the old drab supermarket model and replace it with the fun of shopping and eating in a beautiful food hall that reflects timeless rural values and practices. They will have farmers, chefs, suppliers and trained staff on hand to enthuse and explain about the various links in their food chain. The store will champion British food in a setting created by British craftsmen past and present, using natural materials like wood, brick, slate and zinc, with a focus on functionality.

They will be affordable and accessible and they have joined up green policy on ingredients, emissions, waste and packaging, responding to consumer concerns on health and the environment. The Union brand will be further strengthened by three unique and powerful brand partners in wine, bread and cheese: Rothschild wine, Bread Factory and Neal’s Yard Dairy, all of them pre-eminent in their fields.

The venue is the latest venture from Eddie Bloom, son of Jamie Bloom; former owner of the legendary Rainbow Theatre that played host to Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and The Clash during its heyday in the 70s.
