A Taste of Barbados

During these days of minimal sun we could all do with a dose of Caribbean culture and warmth, so this Saturday and Sunday head over to South Molton Street by Bond Street Station for some Bajan 5 star cuisine, a mixture of live music including Calypso and Jazz, Art, health and wellness demonstrations and last but not least Rum masterclasses.

Not a bad way to spend a chilly Saturday in May.

  • The place:  South Molton Street, London, W1K 5QE

One Love Peace Festival returns to celebrate their landmark 20 year anniversary, transforming London’s Wembley Arena into a tropical fairground as reggae heavyweights from around the world unite under one roof on Sunday 31st July.

Busta Rhymes (UK festival exclusive), Shaggy, Sean Paul, Skepta, Gyptian, Aswad, Ky Mani Marley, John Holt, Third World, Natty King, Trinity, Etana, and Wayne Wade with Horace Andy, Levi Roots, Sandra Cross, Akai, Skepta, Donaeo, Bashy and Princess Nyah also confirmed.

Ethos

In light of the ongoing ‘Broken Britain’ crisis, organisers of the 2011 One Love Peace Festival aim to reaffirm their ‘Throw away your Guns, Throw away your Knives’ initiative by echoing the sentiments of Jamaica’s original One Love Peace Concert where headliner Bob Marley famously united opposing leaders on stage to bring an end to the country’s political civil war.

Cottons Caribbean Restaurant and Rum Bar, Camden

cottonscamden_bar-1024x601_cottonscamden-co-uk

Hungry? Thirsty? Ya, good.

Head down to Cottons in Camden for a good old Caribbean chow down and Rum cocktail. Their food is amazing, however if your only after a drink, they stock 200 different brands of rum and make upwards of 15 different cocktail tipples. They also turn the music up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings to keep you swaying.

Word of warning, their cocktails are serious, if you’re a light weight stay away from the ‘killer doppi’…it’s amazing though!
