Making Your Own Gloves

Jumping on the back of our last post we thought it maybe a good idea to make your own gloves as well.

Yes we are in the UK so there is a very good chance that you already own a pair of gloves, but as we move into summer we probably won’t want to wear our woolen gloves in June, so lets make a summer pair for us to use while this sodding virus is still creeping around.

One of these tutorials requires a flame and a shape knife, so if you want to do this activity with children please be safe and do this part away from children and pets on a heat proof surface. Please also wear safety gloves and eye wear.

Make your own face masks at Home

So Sadiq Khan has finally announced that it is compulsory to wear face masks on the Tube and Buses after FAR TOO MANY TFL workers have passed from Covid-19. Trying to get a hold of any, without re-mortgaging your home, is like trying to find Atlantis so your best bet maybe to make them instead…also if you aren’t an essential worker and it’s not a medical emergency get the hell off of the public transport, what are you playing at!

If you have to go out for any reason it’s good idea to wear face masks and gloves for your own safety, and the safety of others.

So if you can’t get a hold of any face masks and want to try making some at home you can follow the Video Tutorials below. We’ve included a variation of tutorials, so if you try any of these please let us know how you got on:

So, this is the World right now, but it won’t be the forever.

We might be separated but we do it for the good of everybody.

Lets support our NHS, our Careers, our Cleaners, our Supermarket Workers, our Transport Operators and our Emergency Services and continue to stay indoors.

It maybe difficult right now, I agree, especially with the weather being as nice as it has been, but if we stay inside now we will hopefully be able to go out during the Summer.

Just remember:

  • Wash your hands – then Moisturize (all this hand washing has left me with sandpaper skin)
  •  Go out once a day for some exercise – and no that doesn’t mean sunbath in the park or have a BBQ with 8 of your closet friends.
  • Wash your hands – then Moisturize
  • Go out only for essential items – but please don’t be a prat and buy 17 packages of toilet paper and enough Pasta to feed Islington
  • Wash your hands – then Moisturize
  • When you go out if you have something to cover your hands and face with please wear it – for the safety of yourself and other people
  • Wash your hands – then Moisturize
  • And every Tuesday (or whatever day it happens) at 8pm Clap for Our Heroes 
  • And of course wash your hands – can’t forget that.

 

We’ll get through this together, so until we can hug again go and read that book you brought 3 years ago but haven’t read because you ‘haven’t had time’ … you do now!

Paddington Waterways Christmas Carol Concert

Are you feeling the Christmas Spirit yet? 

No, then you need a dose of ‘Carols’ with a side of ‘Merriment’ and a pinch of Mulled Wine (you may need to purchase the last one yourself).

On Tuesday 10th Dec from 6pm you’re welcome to enjoy the musical stylings of the St Saviour’s School Choir at St Mary’s Paddington Green.

Let the Christmas music put a bounce in your step then enjoy a few refreshing nibbles at the end of the concert.

Last Min Halloween

If you’re anything like me then although today is Halloween you still haven’t made any plans, hopefully some of these ideas will help.

 

Ice Bar Halloween White Party

 

We all miss this guy (mostly from seasons 4-7, we try not to talk about season 8) but you can still experience his icy touch this Halloween at the Ice Bar.

Take a picture with a 7 foot tall White Walking meanie then shuffle over to the Fire Bar for the party, a free glass of Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial (for the 1st 100 guests and anybody wearing white FYI) and complimentary canapes.

If you’re not really in the mood to party but still want to get your ‘Spook’ on then pay The Castle Cinema in Homerton a visit to see The Exorcist.

Watch an innocent girl be possessed by a demon who, in my option, seem to just want a friend to play with…forever. 

Sit in the lap of luxury, grab some popcorn and enjoy one of the scariest movies ever.

Halloween Pooch Parade – 3rd November

 

It doesn’t feel fair to have all the fun and not get the doggies involved in the Halloween festivities, so get the pooches dressed in their best costumes and get ready for a Halloween Pooch Costume Parade.

Meet at 10.45am at Monument for an 11am dog walk to Flat Iron Sq in Southwark where the Costume Parade will take place at 2pm.

At the square there will be food and drink stalls, a dog friendly DJ playing all the woofiest tunes (I don’t know what that was either), and after the parade at 5.30pm a free kiddie and doggy friendly screening of Frankenweenie.

All Hallows Eve Samhain Sound Special

 

If you’re after a more spiritual experience this Halloween then how about a relaxing, immersive evening of sound and meditation.

Woolwich Carnival

You’ve been to Notting Hill and Hackney Carnivals but just can’t seem to get the rhythm out of your system, so why not see what Woolwich Carnival has to offer.

In it’s 5th year the event will begin from 12pm – 7pm but the parade starts at 1.30pm in Royal Arsenal, ending in General Gordon Sq where the main stage has been set up, featuring a number of live acts and sound systems.

 

The parade will see local schools and communities get involved, and at the end of the day a King and Queen of the Carnival will be choose, so don’t forget to vote.

So we missed the Easter Bank holiday (our bad) but here are a few ideas for your May Day Bank Holiday.

 

 

Lycra 80s Aerobics Party

Everybody loves the 80s, big hair, big clothes, big mobiles, and LYCRA.

If you hate working out but feel like you need to get some exercise in, and just happen some Lycra in your cupboard, then why not head over to the 80s Lycra Party this Sunday. It’s a fiver, there’s no work on Monday plus there’re DJs so no excuses!

The website describes this event better than we could, but be aware this is a ‘no shoes’ event so if your feet are a bit pongy it maybe time for a pedicular…no judgments though.

Sky Dinner

Exactly what it says on the tin, it’s dinner, served in the sky or on a dinner table raised into the sky at the least.

A 22-chair seated table is lifted 100ft (approx 30mts) into the London air for either a breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Cocktail experience with an epic view. From May to July you’ll be able to book from 1-16 seats between 8am – 8.30pm for the affair of your choosing.

…just make sure you use the bathroom before you go up!

You & your partner have just moved to East London, you don’t know the area very well, the best places to go for a drink or even anybody to drink with, what do you do?

The Shoreditch Pub crawl…for Valentines day, that’s what.

Yes you heard me, The Shoreditch Pub Crawl are doing a Valentines ‘crawl’ for couples, friends and those who want to get out there and meet new people in a ‘non-awkward way’ on Thursday 14th Feb. 

The night starts off at Sink Bar at 8.30pm, everybody with a Pub Crawl ticket gets a free shot at 4 venues and free entry to at least 4 venues throughout the night PLUS discounted drinks at every bar you go too. The next stop after Sink bar is a secret so make sure you get to the meeting point early, enjoy a drink with your fellow travelers and most importantly don’t get left behind.
