The Milk Train

Summer is on it’s way (supposedly) and what better way to enjoy those long hot days than with ice cream served on a cloud.

Milk Train Cafe in Covent Garden as brought the trend of accompanying ice cream with a fluffy mound of candy floss from Taiwan to our shores.

Choose your ice cream flavour, they offer vanilla, matcha, hojicha (roasted green tea) and a few others, chose your extra, and then watch as they surround your cone with the sugary treat that as finally escaped the fairground.

Just a note you don’t have to have the candy floss, but why the hell not huh, YOLO (yes I went there!).

Do you like wooden furniture?

Did you answer YES to all of the above, then get your backside over to Milk, a ‘cool dude’ cafe on a cobbled road in the heart of Balham, that serves a variety of dishes, drinks (hot and cold), not to mention cake, the most important food of your 5-a-day staple.

And as well as the good food & fine wooden surroundings their website looks like an old skool computer, that alone is enough to get my bum in a seat:

A Sale with Style

photography-botond-istvandi-7-600x400

Car boot sales, we all love em. Getting up at some crazy hour of a weekend morning and venturing into a field or school playground to grab a bargain from a group of mad people who have been up since 4am…it’s the British way and I f’ing love it.

But what if you’re looking for an era specific item such as a record from the 70’s, or outfit for your swing dance class (swing dance is fun don’t mock it, I did almost break my face and leg but that’s neither here nor there), well then you NEED to head over to the Classic Car Boot Sale.

instagram_com-p-bloek6la3pz

Situated 5 mins from Kings Cross Station the CCBS offers vintage wares spanning across the decades, a live DJ playing golden oldies to keep the atmosphere lively and those who, like the gentlemen in the picture above, like to get dressed up for the occasion. I do love me a pair of two toned full brogues.

Vintage clothing and accessories, vinyl records, homeware and collectibles are all available, plus your foods and drinky-poos, vintage cars will also be on show, so if motoring is your thing then that should be reason enough to head on down.
