A little of what you fancy, Dalston East London
Review by Zoe Williams, The Telegraph
A Little of What You Fancy is very hard to find, not because it isn’t exactly where it says it’s going to be – at the far end of the longest, most fashionable road in east London – but because it looks so radically unlike anywhere you would go for food.
The doors have that shonky fake leaded glass that strikes dread into your heart when you arrive at a holiday house. A lot of the neighbouring shops have closed down. Nothing augurs well. And then you walk in, and it is the throbbing epicentre of fashion.
My companion, F, made the distinction, as part of a different conversation altogether, between ‘fashion’ and ‘society’: fashion is a strand of art, like architecture except you wear it; society is about always having a fresh blow-dry and wearing a neat belt over everything.
